Car Fatally Injures
Hughesville Pedestrian
Hurley L. Houseknecht, 57-year old Hughesville R. D, resident, was killed Saturday evening when struck by a vehicle driven by Hurley W. Yocum, Salladasburg, R. D. 1, who told police that lights from two approaching vehicles blinded him as he was driving one mile west of Hughesville.
No inquest will be held in the accident, which was caused by Houseknecht walking on the same side of the road as the Yocum car was traveling, according to Dr. Clarence R. Martin, Lycoming county coroner.
Funeral services for Houseknecht, a Williamsport contractor employe, will be conducted at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home at 209 South Main street, Hughesville.

Arthur H. Houseknecht's father, Hurley L. Houseknecht, was killed in 1948 near Hughesville by a car driven by Hurley Yocum (the only two Hurley's I think I've ever seen) who was blinded by the lights of an on-coming car and ran over the former Hurley, who was walking with traffic, not against it, considered the cause of the accident and so an inquest was not pursued.
