Mrs. J.C.Anderson has a Bible that Has Been Family Possession for a Century.

Joel Hall, who is visiting his sister (? - sister? This may be a mistake. How about neice? Didn't her brother Joel die in 1846 at the age of 6? or is this evidence that 1846 is incorrect? -jcw20160109], Mrs. J.C.Anderson, of South Olean, when he leaves for Nebraska tomorrow will take an interesting relic of the early Hall family in the shape of a Bible. The Bible was printed in 1809 by Greenough & Stebbins of Boston, and was in the possession of Mrs. Anderson's great grandfather, David Hall, who was born in 1756. This Mr. Hall fought with Washington, and two of his younger brothers were in the war of 1812. On the fly leaf between the old and new testaments are birth records for three generations, taking the family down to the time when David Hall came to South Olean. In 1835. At that time the family was the first white family to settle south of the river. David Hall the pioneer resident, is still alive, but for the past 12 years has been blind.
The bible lay on the table in the living room at the time of the flood in 1865, when it was rather badly battered, the covers soaked off, and the leaves stained. But the print is a distinct as when it was new.
Among the other interesting relics in Mrs. Anderson's possession is a gun that was used by her great uncle, Cyrus Hall, in the war of 1812.
