  	Charleston, WVa, Jan 1.- Dr. Edwin O. Thornhill, 35 yrs old, well known physician and business man of the sourhtern section of West Virginia, was shot and killed today by Willson Hatfield, son of the feudist, in a drug store at Mullens. The physician was attending an injured person when the shooting occurred. Hatfield, it is said, asked Dr. Thornhill to issue a prescription for a pint of whisky. The doctor refused and when Hatfield used abusive language the physician slapped him. Htfield, it is alleged, drew a revolver and shot Thornhill 2x through the body, then 2x in the head as he lay on the floor. Hatfield fled but was captured. Fearing lynching, Hatfield pleaded with the officers to protect him, and he was taken to Pineville, the county seat, where deputy sheriffs tonight are guarding the frail prison.
