Bill Age 74, of Wayne, NY formerly of Elmira, died Friday February 23, 2001 at Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends are invited to call from 3-6 p.m. Monday (Feb. 26) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where a funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 p.m. with the Pastor William McCaffery officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira. Memorial Contributions may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America 115 Hardwood Lane, Rochester, NY 14616. Mr. Morris was born September 12, 1926 in Elmira, the son of the late George W. and Vivian M. Thomas Morris. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy, and went on to attend Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. On January 4, 1946, in Elmira, he married the late Carolyn E. Bly; she passed away on July, 18, 1999. They had lived in Wayne since 1995, having spent their summers there since the 1950's. Previously of Elmira; Mr. Morris was a tool designer for Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing, Elmira, NY until his retirement in 1988; he had also worked for Youngstown Steel Door. Mr. Morris was a past member of the Pine City Sportsmen's Club, and the Horseheads Snowmobile Club. A loving family man who cherished his time with family and friends at Waneta Lake; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed building model trains. He is survived by 2 sons, Mark W. (Suzanne) Morris of Rochester, NY, and Kevin T. (Jill) Morris of Wayne, 3 grandsons Daniel Morris, David Morris, and Ian Strait; a granddaughter Nitasha Strait; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Kathleen J. Morris on July 28, 1999, and 2 sisters, Adele Copp, and Lorraine Cogswell.
