Marion Burt Hosley Obituary

Mrs. Marion (Burt) Hosley died on Monday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of John F. Stone on North Main Street. She had been sick about six weeks of pneumonia, having come here about that time from Gettysburg, where she had spent the winter. Her remains were taken to her former home in Ulysses, where the funeral was held Wednesday in the Methodist Church, Rev. V. O. Priddy conducting the services.
Mrs. Hosley was born in Ulysses in 1852, a daughter of Titus and Elizabeth (Lewis) Burt, early settlers of that township.
She was married to Charles E. Hosley in 1873 and to them three children were born,
- Maude and
- Harry, deceased, and
- Arlington, of Pitman, N.J.
Mr. Hosley died about fifteen years ago.
Mrs. Hosley made her home in Ulysses for many years, but for about twenty-five years has lived at Brookland. For a year she has resided in Coudersport with her sister Mrs. J. F. Stone. She was a noble Christian woman, and her death is mourned by many friends and relatives.
Besides her son, Arlington, she leaves
two brothers, Charles M. Burt of Genesee, and
Art S, Burt of Ulysses;
- one sister, Mrs. John F. Stone of Coudersport;
also nine grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Arlington Hosley and three children of Pitman, N.J. and Mrs. G. C. Wright of Petersburg, VA., were here to attend the funeral.
Potter County Journal, May 22, 1930: The funeral of Mrs. Marion Hosley, who died Monday, May 12, at the home of her sister, Mrs. John F. Stone, of Coudersport, was held in the Methodist church of this place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. V. O. Priddy, pastor of the M. E. Church of which Mrs. Hosley was a member officiated;
- burial was made in the Ulysses cemetery.
Mrs. Hosley was born in Ulysses and lived here until about twenty-five years ago when she with her family moved to Brookland. Mrs. Hosley had many friends and relatives in this place who mourn her death.

- Mr. and Mrs. Harry Voss and sons Marion and Stanforth Miller,
- Mrs. Mayme Hosley and family of Coudersport;

- Mrs. G. C. Wright of Petersburg, Va.;
- Mr. and Mrs. Merle Burt and Charley Burt of Brookland;
- Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gibson and sons Donald, James, and John of Wellsville, N.Y.
