His name was often spelled "Almond" in news items and biographies, but "Almon" is inscribed on the marker.

"Of those who became citizens of the village at this period, there are yet living as residents...
Almond J. Abrams, who came from Patchinsville in 1851.
He was the eldest son of Thomas Abrams, Sr., his mother being a daughter of Demas [Dennis] Hess.
He married Jane Snyder in 1853, Mrs. Abrams dying 1899.
They had one son, Noble S. Abrams."

"Wayland. The death of Almond J. Abrams, aged 77 years, occurred Sunday. Death was due to dropsy.
He leaves one son, Noble S. Adams of Hornellsville;
two brothers
- Truman of Loon Lake, and
- Thomas of Texas; also
- one sister, Mrs. Dr [Ezra] Carpenter of [North] Cohocton."
A similar death announcement was published in The Naples News, North Cohocton section, Thursday, March 12, 1903.

Mrs. Jane Abrams died at her home on Fremont street, Monday evening, Feb. 27, aged 65 years.
The cause of her death was paralysis.
Mrs. Abram’s maiden name was Jane Snyder, she was a daughter of Chauncey Snyder, deceased in 1853.
She was married to Almond J. Abrams at Dansville.
They came to Wayland where they have since lived.
She is survived by her husband and
- one son, N.S. Abrams of this village;
five brothers,
- Benjamin and
- Warren Snyder of Loon Lake,
- Levi Snyder of Filmore, N.Y.,
- William Snyder of Ormal, N.Y., and
- Frank Snyder of Andover, N.Y.
The funeral was held at the Evangelical church, Thursday at 2 pm, Rev. Dillen officiating.
- Interment in the village cemetery.
