Julia Lucinda Stillman was born November 18, 1844, in Madison County, N. Y., near DeRuyter, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Julia Maxson, June 23, 1924 at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
At the age of 18 years Miss Stillman was united in marriage with Augustus Hull, son of Elder Varnum Hull, who died in 1864 in the Civil War service and was buried at Chattanooga, Tenn. To this union was born one son, Varnum Augustus Hull, who lives in Anahuis, Tex.
Mrs. Hull was again married April 24, 1868 - this time to Rowland A. Barber, who died November 13, 1911.
To them were born two children:
- Roland E. Barber of Portville, N. Y., and
-Mrs. Julia M. Maxson of Little Genesee, N. Y.
Mrs. Barber united with the church at an early age and for many years has been a member of the East Portville Seventh Day Baptist Church.
There remain to mourn her departure besides the immediate family:
one step-daughter,
- Mrs. Flora Clark of Little Genesee;
two half-sisters,
- Mrs. DeEtte Coon of Nortonville, Kans., and
- Mrs. Adelia Maxson of North Loup, Neb.;
also nine grandchildren,
fifteen great-grandchildren and a large group of friends.
Farewell services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Julia Maxson, on the afternoon of June 26, 1924 with Pastor G. D. Hargis officiating. Interment was at the East Portville cemetery.

DEATH OF HIGHLY RESPECTED CITIZEN
R.A. Barber of Portville Passed Away Quietly In His 85th Year
Portville, Nov. 15. (Special.)--
At eight o'clock Monday evening, R. A. Barber quietly passed away. He had been very low for several weeks. R. A. Barber was in his eighty-fifth year having been born in Wiredville, Rhode Island, on Dec. 17, 1827, and was a son of Samuel E. and Nancy Crandall Barber.
Since the age of three, he has made his home in this vicinity, but has been a resident of this village for only two years. On the 21st of December, 1848, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Main, who died Jan. 1, 1867. But on April 25, 1868 he married Julia Stillman, who survives him.
Besides his aged wife, he is survived by one son,
- R. E. Barber of this place
and by three daughters,
- Mrs. A. C. Sanford,
- Mrs. Dora Maxson, and
- Mrs. H. B. Clark of Little Genesee,
and by one sister,
- Mrs. Martha Barber of Barber Settlement.
The funeral will be held at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. G. P. Kenyon of Richburg officiating and the interment at Main Settlement.
